03History

Named for Louisville's Seelbach Hotel — the recipe was lost until the hotel researched it for its 1995 bar restoration, then restored the drink too.

It answers the champagne cocktail's question with a Kentucky accent: same bubbles-and-bitters idea, but bourbon where the French used cognac.

Origin contested — the entry keeps verified record and received legend distinct.
