03History
Sloe gin was a farmhouse liqueur before it was a cocktail ingredient — British hedgerows produced it centuries ago; the fizz treatment came with the 19th-c. soda era.
It is the fizz family's gentlest member: plum-dark fruit, soft acid, bubbles — less sharp than a Tom Collins, more interesting.
Origin contested — the entry keeps verified record and received legend distinct.
