03History
San Francisco, early 2000s. Bartender Jon Santer built the Revolver while running the bar at Bruno's — later documented when it landed at Bourbon & Branch and spread west coast first.
The coffee liqueur is not a gimmick: at 15 ml it's seasoning, not syrup. The drink drinks like a Manhattan in a leather jacket — same architecture, different temperament.
It's become the standard bridge order for drinkers who want a Manhattan's depth without vermouth's wine register.
Origin contested — the entry keeps verified record and received legend distinct.
