03History
Printed in Trader Vic's 1947 'Bartender's Guide', long before peach bitters were a craft-cocktail cliché — the Derby was quiet proof that two ingredients and a leaf could be enough.
Several other 'Derby' recipes exist (bourbon, rum, vermouth — the name raced often); this gin version is the one that made the IBA list.
Origin contested — the entry keeps verified record and received legend distinct.
